FERRATON PERE ET FILS
Ferraton Père et Fils is a massive company in the Rhone. They are a winery, producing some of the top wines in the Northern Rhone, especially in Hermitage, Saint Joseph and Crozes Hermitage. They own vines in several appellations. In Hermitage, they have vines planted in “Le Meal”, “Petit Meal”, and “Beaumes”. They have old vines, some of which are close to 60 years of age on “Le Meal”, with their oldest vines dating back to 1946, which are in the “Les Dionières” lieu-dit. They also act as a negociant and produce wine from purchased grapes and/or wines in a myriad of appellations including: Crozes Hermitage, St. Joesph, Côte Rôtie, Condrieu, Cornas, Saint Péray, Chateauneuf du Pape, Gigondas, Côtes du Rhone and Côtes du Rhone Villages.
They make both red and white wine in the Rhone Valley, and also some rosé. Maison Ferraton is a very fine Northern Rhone wine estate that was run for many years by Michel Ferraton. It is now owned by M. Chapoutier, who was a very good friend of Michel Ferraton, but it is run independently by a young and passionate team, who perpetuates the legacy of the Ferraton family. The firm has vineyard holdings in Hermitage, Saint Joseph and Crozes-Hermitage and its wine cellars are located right behind those of Marc Sorrel in the heart of Tain l’Hermitage.
